The Interview via Chat

DKP - Hi Debbie! Thanks for letting us get to know you better.
Debbie - Thank you for inviting me here. I look forward to my interview with you.

DKP - How long have you lived in Florida?
Debbie - Gee, it seems like forever. My family moved here when I was a kid so it's been home for about forty years.

DKP - Aside from Debbie Wallace, what names do you write under?
Debbie - I write erotic romance under Tory Richards. Her website is: www.toryrichards.com I'm having a new website designed right now and plan to launch it soon. The url will remain the same.

DKP - Can you give us a sneak peek at "The Cowboy Way"?
Debbie - I sure can! I'm so excited about this book. It's my first cowboy romance and is a sexy read. Here's a blurb -

After years away, Lacey Owens returns home to visit her father and get a little R&R, never expecting the danger that waits around the corner. Her attraction to Chase Saunders, half owner and ranch foreman, is intense and out of control. Meanwhile, an escaped convict targets Lacey in his quest for revenge against her father.

DKP - Is it being released under Debbie Wallace or another name?
Debbie - Since this is my third erotic romance, it's being released under Tory Richards.

DKP - What inspired you to write "The Cowboy Way"?
Debbie -I just wanted to try something different. I'd written several books where the hero was in some kind of law enforcement, a fireman and mercenary and I thought, cowboys seem to be very popular right now. So why not? I gave it a try.

DKP -What inspires you to write in general?
Debbie - Mood. But I think a lot of it has to do with what's going on in my life at the moment. I've always used writing as a kind of therapy. And I have to write when I want to. Don't try to put me on a schedule because it won't work.

DKP - Are there any 'hot spots' in Florida you like to visit?
Debbie - My favorite is St. Augustine, with my girls. That includes my daughter, niece and granddaughter. Sometimes we'll just drive up for the day and walk the city, ride on the trolley, and shop.

DKP - Any favorite place to visit other than in Florida?
Debbie - We've enjoyed a couple trips to the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina.

DKP - What do you enjoy most about writing?
Debbie - I enjoy seeing my characters come to life, watch their relationships grow as the story moves on. Writing "the end" when I finally finish a manuscript. And believe it or not I like the editing part, too:)

DKP - What do you enjoy least about writing?
Debbie -Definitely writer's block!

DKP - Have you read any good books recently?
Debbie - Yes! I recently read "Animal Attraction" by Paige Tyler. It was hot!

DKP -What has been your favorite story to write so far?
Debbie - "Cupid's Arrow". It's published under Debbie Wallace and basically began my writing career. It was on the publisher's best sellers list for two consecutive months. By the way my Debbie Wallace website is at: www.DebbieWallace.homestead.com

DKP - Is there a genre/sub-genre that you haven't written yet but hope to try to write in the future?
Debbie - Yes, I'd like to try my hand on a vampire romance some day, or shape shifter. I have a historical completed but it needs major work.

DKP - What is your favorite type of promoting that you do for your books?
Debbie - Gee, that's a tough question. Because promo is anything and everything. It's expensive, time consuming and necessary. I do have a monthly blog giveaway every month. Head over to: http://debbiewallace.blogspot.com/ and leave a comment on any post. The last Saturday of every month I randomly pick one winner. They receive a surprise. I've given away gift certificates, books, cosmetic bags with makeup, candles, lotions, stationary, music CDs, mouse pads, mugs and much more.

DKP - After "The Cowboy Way," what do we have to look forward to from you?
Debbie - Well, recently I've received the book rights back to two earlier releases with New Concepts Publishing. I'm revising the stories and adding content to up their heat level to erotic. I hope to have them published again one day. I'm also in the process of finishing up a steamy romance between a marine sent home to recuperate from a wound, and his dead brother's wife. It takes place at a Vermont farm over the holidays, where the whole family has come home to celebrate.

DKP - Thanks so much for taking the time to 'chat' with us. Before you go, please be sure to add anything I may have missed that you want your readers to know and the best way for them to contact you.
Debbie - If you post this before April 21 then I'd like to let everyone know I'll be attending the Romantic Times Book Lovers Convention in Orlando Florida from 4/21-4/25. You can meet me at the book signing event on Wed 4/22 from 4:30-6:30 or on Sat 4/25 from 11:00-2:00. The convention is held at the Wyndham Resort on International Drive. I also have book ads coming out in the Romantic Times Magazine in July and September. Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity, Kay. It's been fun!
