freelance writer abroad
I am a writer living abroad who earns income independently for U.S. customers. Do I have to pay taxes?

I do not reside in United States, however, maintain an address in the U.S. (Address of a friend actually) for my U.S. customers can send my check and 1099 with ease. But that means I have to pay taxes on that income? What are the exemptions on the income of Americans living abroad? In my case, Technically I make my living in the U.S. (My clients are based there), but working remotely and not live there.

I'm assuming they are not American yourself, or have a permanent resident card. If this is the case, then it depends on what basis are paid. Fees and self-employment is taxed in a basic source of the United States, but can be treated with their country of residence that allows you to pay taxes in your country instead. If you hold American life or permanent residence abroad must file annual income tax in the U.S.. Tax treaty or national legislation in their country of residence also be the tax base in their country of residence as well. Most countries give tax credits for taxes paid in other countries. You need tax professional assistance to resolve your situation. When looking for a tax advisor, choose one that pays both the tax laws of their country of origin and the United States.
