The Romance of the Annual Romance Writers of America Conference
The RWA, Romance Writers of America, is a very large group of women (and a few men), who support each other, and provide advice and critiques for the first time writer and the published author. Each year, the RWA holds a conference where members come together to celebrate successes, meet their favorite romance authors, accept RITA or Golden Heart awards for their work, and just have a good time with other people who love to write romance.
There are a few things that occur at these yearly conferences, and if you want access, you need to fill out this paper, grab yourself a lanyard and one of the ID badge holders, and prepare yourself for a great time!
Check In and Meet and Greet
The RWA Conference is usually held in an upscale hotel with a conference room, plenty of comfortable rooms, and is within walking distance of local attractions. Once you've checked into your room, you visit the RWA Conference welcome table, fill out the paperwork provided, get your conference swag and schedule, grab your lanyard and ID badge holders, and from there you get to enjoy yourself at the Meet and Greet.
During the Meet and Greet, you'll eat delicious foods, drink refreshing beverages, meet other RWA members, and shake hands with your favorite authors! The Meet and Greet provides a welcoming atmosphere in which you can sit down and speak with Eloisa James, Nora Roberts, Lauren Stephens, and more.
Seminars
The RWA Conference is a hotbed of incredible information on the art of writing, the writing industry, and the intricacies of writing romance. Throughout the conference, many of your favorite authors, editors, literary agents, and writing gurus offer seminars on specific industry sectors. Your lanyard and the ID badge holders gives you access to a wealth of information that you won't find anywhere else in the world.
Book Presentations
One of the most popular portions of the conference is the chance to pitch your book ideas to publishing company editors and literary agents. If your book idea is something they want to take on, you may just get a request for full or partial manuscript. You just may leave the conference with a contract in the works. Once again, that little thought of lanyard and the accompanying ID badge holders have opened doors to the careers of many a budding writer.
Awards Ceremony
One of the reasons so many attend the RWA Conference is for the RITA and Golden Heart Awards ceremony. The RITA award is given to romance and women's fiction writers who have provided quality content that inspires, entertains, enlightens, and brings joy to the lives of their readers. The Golden Heart award is presented to authors who haven't been published by a main stream publishing company yet.
The RWA Conference is something to look forward to every year, especially if you can see yourself writing romance well into your 80s. If you want to attend and enjoy the delights mentioned here, all you have to do is become a general member of RWA, sign up for the conference, and get ready for a great time!
